In 1874, Bodegas Montecillo was founded by Celestino Navajas in La Rioja Alta. A classic Rioja, deep red with dark berry fruit and spicy aromas. On the palate blackberry and plum flavors with vanilla and herb spice character. Tannins are a bit grippy but should soften with time, medium+ ending with a fruit structure. Nice value. Deep Ruby, Aromas of red fruit, spice and earthy notes. Ripe Berry and Cherry with cacao and pepper spice. Soft tannins, lingering, good balanced, drinking great now. Good value.

Complex aromatics of incense, leather, earl gray tea. High acid food wine, with plum, black cherry, pencil shavings. Very tight on opening, and somewhat fleeting after decanting.
