Bodegas Juan Gil
Juan Gil Jumilla Mourvedre
Juan Gil Jiménez first built his winery in 1916 in Jumilla, and passed it down to his future generations. From 100% Certified Organic Monastrell (or Mourvèdre in France), in chalky, stony soils, aromas of dark berry fruits and woody spice. Aged 12 months in French oak, palate shows blackberry and plum with smoky wood flavors and notes of cacao and cinnamon spice. Soft ripe tannins, medium+ ending with a light toasty earthy character. Great value! Very nice!

May 3rd, 2019On first open, had almost Zinfandel-like fruitiness with tea leaf tannin. With a bit of air, the wine relaxed, body became lighter side of medium, acid and tannin more noticeable. Overall, elegant 100% Monastrell/Mourvedre. Drinking very nicely now, drink within the next three years. Excellent value, around $15.
