Great to be drinking an early vintage of this stylish Toro. Yes it is big but also resolved w plenty of savory elements and enough stuffing of fruit to carry the weight and structure.

Opaque ruby. Assertively perfumed aromas of cherry preserves, blackberry, incense and potpourri; oak spice and mineral topnotes build in the glass. Alluringly sweet and concentrated, with an undercurrent of smoky minerality lifting dark berry liqueur, bitter chocolate and candied lavender flavors that show fine definition. Supple, slow-building tannins add shape to an extremely long, juicy finish, which echoes the floral and mineral notes. 100% new French oak. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2021)

Deep purple, spice, dried earth, and plummy dark fruits waft from the glass. Hides the 15+% well.

Deeply colored. The nose is focused on toasty vanilla and deep black fruit notes. This was too overtly oaky for me on this day.

Earth tinged, blueberry. Balsamic/resinous, roasted coffee, more wild blueberry. Palate lacks the mid-palate ripeness of the Astrales or San Roman. This is more skeletal in structure, mineral driven.

A big muscular wine with coconut, blackberries, raspberries, violets, dark chocolate, and crushed stones. Smooth creamy texture with concentrated flavors showing dark fruits, rapsberries, dark chocolate, spicy finish with polished tannins.

Very smooth and nicely matured. Hints of ash on the top palette, mellow dark red fruit on the back. Paired with saffron risotto
