For international Grenache day, that was yesterday, here is a delicious Garnacha from Spain.

Full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with great complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, earth, spices, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, cola, vanilla, mocha and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This 10 year old is rich, extracted, engaging and fruit forward. Feels like a Napa Cabernet based Bordeaux blend.

Wine Spectator 94 points. Robert Parker 94 points.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Good by itself as a sipping wine. Just gorgeous.

100% Garnacha grapes were aged in (70%) French and (30%) American oak barrels for 2 years. A very small production of only a few barrels.

16% alcohol by volume.

94 points.

$150.

Deep dark ruby in color, with prunes, stewed plums, and blackberry compote primary aromas; with moist earth, vanilla pod, and cacao coming through second. Very earthy on the palate; potting clay, wrought iron, and dust along with smoke and tobacco. Acidity is still amazing! Tannins are present and husky but on the mellow side, like in baking chocolate. Long savory finish. Invokes sighs of satisfaction and fulfillment!

Crazy and absolutely hedonistic, this massively fruity and structured Garnacha fires on all cylinders, offering a boatload of red and dark berries, lofty amounts of sweet, chocolatey oak, but brilliantly balanced by juicy acidity. Impressive and ageable.

A little lighter but still with some tannins on the finish. This would be gone fast!

An intense and awesome expression of Grenache. Has a viscous feel that is complemented by multiple levels of flavors with sherry, kirsch and pepper being prominent.

Vintage 2011 / red plums, cherries, eucalyptus, new wood, this wine goes for the prizes, slighty too alcoholic for me

Black cherry, plum, cocoa and baking spices. M+ intensity. Savory, fig, raisin and dried fruit. M+ tannin and body.
