Bodega Catena Zapata
White Bones Adrianna Vineyard Chardonnay
Medium lemon with aromas of stone fruits, spice, citrus, floral and yeasty notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach & apricot with some lemon citrus zest, honeysuckle and nutty notes. Smooth, long finish, well balanced with lively acidity, ending with fruit, integrated with wet stone mineral character. Pair with a grilled King Salmon with Beurre Blanc. Nice now and will age a bit more!

Jun 26th, 2023The 2019 Chardonnay White Bones Adrianna Vineyard is from the eponymous vineyard in Tupungato and was aged for up to 16 months in used French barrels. Pale yellow with golden flecks. The intense aromatic profile is led by herbs such as basil and a crystal-clear lavender whiff, alongside cedar, vanilla and a backdrop of green apple. Broad and creamy on the palate but with a terse texture and superb freshness, this has an unctuous feel. White fruit aromas appear at the back of the mouth. Ending with a lovely, herbal finish, this is a wine inspired by Chablis but possessing a wild purity all its own. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, June 2021)

Mint, lavender, granny smith apple, green banana, superb complexity and very unique characters. Excellent balance and quality. 4800 feet in elevation and planted in brittle ancient river bed soils of calcareous limestone.
Best new world Chardonnay for me a in a while.

Pairing this with our first grilled turkey on Christmas Day. Thinking back to a day in August when I was pruning the vines for this wine in Argentina. It has been a fun year, happy holidays everyone!
