High Mountain Vines Mendoza Malbec

I don’t drink Malbec often, but when I do… I prefer Catena!

But really… it’s good. Oak. Leather. Fruit.

It tastes like I’m smoking a cigar in the forest.

Lovely round wine with black fruit, oak and smooth finish. Tannins are mild but keep the wine from being flabby. I’m not usually a Malbec person but this wine is delightful.

Big fan. Dry and candied cherry.

Loved it. Smooth, full of flavor.

This Malbec is way too mild for my tastes. I like a Malbec with more punch. Medium body, cherry flavor, forward on the palate.

Deep purple in color. Plums and a hint of bell pepper on the nose. Medium bodied, smooth tannins, good acidity. Tastes like cherries. Great with a steak

Well this is super tasty! Deep ruby red with a medium plus nose of blackberry, cassis, plum, vanilla and black pepper. It’s got a luscious nose.

The wine is dry, high acid, medium alcohol but medium plus body with smooth tannins that become more grippy towards the finish. Medium plus fruit intensity that follows the nose plus a leathery earthy finish with a lot of lush fruit. The finish is medium but finishes with oak.

It’s a good to very good wine. Would absolutely drink it again.

So-so. Lacks the spice and fruit from the Malbecs we like. It’s an ok table wine. Expected more oomph. 14.99 at Costco. Would not get anytime soon.

Reviewed this a few times. My gateway introduction to wine. Affordable. Fairly safe and balanced. Lots of earth. Dark dry fruits. No complaints when people keep pick this up from whatever Trader Joe or grocery they find it in and bring it to dinner parties.
