Tanzen Dame Riesling

These guys have mastered the savory/umami side of FLX Riesling without veering into the petrol lane or the weird, minty herbaceousness that detracts from so many examples. Spiced pear and a touch of Manzanilla. Fantastic. #bloomercreek #riesling

Back to this wine. A little more sugar than I remembered, but texture and length, and a scorcher on the finish for such a hot vintage. 10.7%alc. A great example of harnessing the vintage.

Clearly an Alsace clone

So much texture and depth - apricot, peach skin, mustard seed.

High petrol, dense concentration.

Nice FLX Riesling with a bit of funk. Peaches and pears, with some skin contact adding body. A bit of oxidation lends a sherry-like character to it.

Skin contact Riesling from a favorite producer, sushi, all the sushi, and poker with the guys. This is heaven incarnate.

This has greatly improved over the past 3 years in bottle. On the nose, funky overripe pears, fresh apple cider and petrol. In the mouth... all kinds of weirdness...in a good way. Pear, wet rock, forest shrubs after a rain (we called them “mountain misery” when I grew up - I don’t know what they are really called). High acid, long finish. This producer is one of the most interesting in the US.

World Class Riesling producer. On the nose, apricots, apple peels, funk and wet rocks. In the mouth, limes, pears and zippy acid. Thick mouthfeel. Great balance. Funk-eh. Tasted at the winery.
