Bevan Cellars
Sugarloaf Mountain Proprietary Red Blend
I haven’t really enjoyed this producer due to how much ABV it shows, This was the first time it didn’t burn the back of my throat. Still big and dark. It’s a 30 plus year wine.

Nov 29th, 2020Victoria from Bevan Cellars came to town and put on a wonderful tasting of some current releases.
See my note on the EE for my thoughts on the comparison. This seemed closed at first so I initially favored the EE, but the CF aromatics here won me over by the end of the night. Explosive nose full of rich blackberries and spice. Potpourri too. Velvet like finish. These cabs were only bottled in April and even with a 4-hr decant, they drank well (Bevan signature style).

Wow. Tremendous wine. Half merlot and half cab franc. Great balance of acidity, alcohol, tannin, fruit....just wow.

May 12th, 2018This is starting to settle down a little, but still young. Sweet dark fruits on the nose with apricots, leather, and cedar notes. Palate revisits these themes, though the alcohol feels higher for the flavors in the glass. While not overly complex, there is nice concentration and silkiness.
