Surprisingly complex and nuanced. There is an undeniable floral component to this wine that is quite atypical for Zinfandel. Mineral-laced, spicy, elegant and simply delicious. Aside from a hint of blueberry jam this is in no way your typical Dry Creek Zinfandel. Weight and texture are beautiful. Loving the lavender and violets. Easily the best wine I’ve had from Maple Vineyard. This is Zin!

The wine’s nose offers aromas of bright red cherries doused in spearmint. Baking spices give a good whiff as well, with cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper coming through. The palate shows beautiful red fruit in a rustic setting with pepper and a dose of oak spice. The acidity is very refreshing and the tannic grip is firm.

Purple hues in the glass coming clean with a whiff of alcohol. Bold and richly structured paving the way for huckleberry, herbs de providence, and smokey cappuccino. Midpalate shows its youthfulness which I like, accents of tea and cedar. Tannins hold strong and fleshy, yet very soft mouthfeel. Served at room temp. Lovely wine.

Candidate for best Zin of the year: cocoa, leather, coffee, vanilla. A bit hot at 14.8 ABV. Could pass as a Barolo.

Paired with a NY strip and all I can say is wow! Solid stand alone wine but get some meat in your mouth and you won’t be disappointed.
