15.1% alc.

The third in a comparison tasting of fermentation techniques of Syrah from Hudson Vineyard.

Native yeast fermentation in new oak and transferred into new oak ("200% treatment") for aging.

Deep mix of ruby and purplish red. Very complex layers on the nose, starting off dark and savory with black olives and a touch of smoked meat. With some air the nose added some purple floral notes. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. Savory attack on the palate with dark gravel, a bit smoky, and a touch of olive tapenade. Great structure and mouthfeel that lingers. A touch of dark red fruits with black raspberries and cherries near the finish. Long and dry finish. Drink till 2024.

Brooding dark fruits, tight tannins, blood, and gravel. Damn! 18 months in new French oak and it is in hiding.

Extra time has done this one well, taming the original 200% new oak. One of the three Bedrock expressions from the Hudson Vineyard. For ‘08. With all previous bottles from that group consumed five or more years ago, glad I saved this one. Loved it.

Immediately impressed by the aromatics and color...initially would conclude a younger wine...on palate a more mature, integrated experience
