Loads of bramble red fruit, sweet spice, cocoa, and sandalwood aromas. Silky mouthfeel with gentle tannins and medium acidity.

May 1st, 2019Medium ruby red with garnet edges. Layered nose with notes of smoke, very dark, touch of cocoa, baking spices and some tight dark berries. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. Well rounded even at a young age. Notes of bark, dark berries, broken twigs, a touch savory with medium plus acidity. Dry and long finish. Drink from 2018 till 2026. (91+)

Mar 15th, 2017Way young for this, but that doesn't make it less enjoyable, just less fully developed and complex as it will be down the road. Density and concentration without super maturity and jamminess.

The carignan in this field blend brings an unexpected silkiness. More restrained than a lot of recent Bedrocks. Drinks well now, but I'm saving my other bottle for a couple of years.

Dry farmed, own roots, planted in the 1890s. Old California meets the modern age. Field blend and I don't care what the grapes are. Pretty on the nose, even better in the mouth. But so young. Glad I have more. Such a delightful wine. Went great with tonight's spicy tri-tip. Thanks, Morgan!

Nov 5th, 2016With a long decant, this was pretty accessible. Juicy with a mix of red fruit and some earthiness. Tannins catch up at the end. The mataro plays a definite role in the flavor profile. Quite good.

Mar 3rd, 2019Previous vintages are much better. This is much riper. It’s hot. Big downtick.

Mar 12th, 2018I recently read about Bedrock's purchase of the Evangelho Vineyard, and was relieved to know that these old, own-rooted vines in sandy soil will be preserved. As for the wine, it is wonderful, with raspberry/boysenberry aromas and flavors, with notes of beeswax, earth, spice, and violets. Rich and velvety, but bright in its great balance of acid, tannin, and fruit. Excellent length, and just 14.1% abv. My new favorite Zinfandel-based red blend!
