BV holds a special place in my heart ever since a bottle of the ‘85 some 14 years ago inspired me to start eating red meat again. Plummy. Peppery. Loads of American oak here (dried herbs/dill and red hots) but as with good Rioja, after decades of age, it melds into a delicious savory stew.

Surprised I haven’t reviewed the 99 yet. J loves it. I think nose better than the pour which is the slightest bit dull but still plenty of fruit. I’d call 19 years the max.

Bad bottle, not much fruit left, a bit of funk, still very tannic.
