Verduno Pelaverga

My first Pelaverga. It was... fine!

First time trying Pelaverga. Not really my type. Thin, stringent, acidic and tannic, with a slight anise taste. Aromas of hints of grassy unripe strawberries. 18.95 at lawc. Might try in the future, but not anytime soon.

Black pepper and light baking spice, some mushroom and wet earth, stewed cherries and prune, wet steel, nice tannins and bright acidity. From Prospect Wines 02/05/22

Quite a nice red wine on the lighter side. At L’Etoile

Liked this one quite a bit. Very light color, maybe anise and spice. Would like more of this in the summer, actually. Liz couldn’t have.

First time trying this grape. Closest comparison I can make would be an Arbois. Almost a rosé in color. On the nose, roses, strawberries and loads of pepper. In the mouth, high acid, red fruit, strawberries and black pepper. Long finish. Food wine. Quite nice.

Pretty tight first day, and second day the character still isn’t remarkable. Less depth of fruit than I was hoping.

Keeper. Light and a tad sharp but a great pelaverga at $17
