Drinking beautifully! Earthy, mushroomy, macerated plums, spice, warm sandstoney notes. Rich and fully resolved. Tannins in check and a clingy, lengthy, rich and savory finish. My brother gave me this many years ago, so thanks are in order!

Wonderfully complex wine, still very tart after 8 years but starting to show some layers. Cranberry, dried prune, sage and an intense, but fleeting, note of concentrated blueberry.

Big high-toned (not quite VA) nose with lots of deep dark fruits, on the palate slightly overripe to my taste and exhibiting a potpourri of fruits à la Zinfandel. New oak influence is profound. I want my Sagrantino back.

When I had this 9 years ago, it was a tannin bomb. Undrinkable. But now it’s lovely. Velvety, leather and tobacco, rich and delicious.

Well aged Sagrantino. Dark ruby color. Beautiful nose of mushroom, mossy wet soil, cooked plums, dried rose petals and cedar. Palate is still fruit forward, noting concentrated and ripe cherry/raspberry/cranberry/blackberry flavors along with notes of black pepper, black licorice and dried sage leaves. Lighter in body than I would have predicted and the tannins have beautifully mellowed. Actually quite elegant, delicate and refined. Thank You for bringing this outstanding wine to our tasting, John P!

A bit of of a mixed identity Sagrantino - good dry earth tones but also youthful fruit - more time?
