Rosso Piceno Superiore Montepulciano

Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Cab Sav, 11€/$16, saved by it’s structure. Long savoury finish but the fruit (plum) dies quickly

What a pleasant surprise. This bottle was muled back from Italy by my sister in law so it could have been, who knows what. Instead, it was a delight! Crunchy dark fruit that was wound up super tight but it wasn’t inaccessible. The gripping tannins and acid made it fun and a rather wonderful partner to the meal. I’d certainly drink this again...if I could ever find it around.

Less Sangiovese from Marche the better, or some would have me believe. montepulciano thrives here.

Stone fruit and a little bitter chocolate. Not too sweet but the tannins seem a bit overdone.

Medium weight, clean and structured. Food wine, and improves with 1+hr decanting.

Rich and smoky cherries, asks for some food thats been roasted, follows you around like you're on fire. Goes from low score to above 9 if you have the right companion elements.

Surprise Rosso! Earthy, slightly tannic, old world Italian style

Bought from central bottle. First turkey together! Refrigerated for 2 days after opened and still great.
