Guardengo Lacrima di Morro d'Alba Lacrima 2017

Deep purple and an amazing floral nose. tv14%, higher in alcohol than I’ve seen with Lacrima, but u can’t taste it. This wine is so unusual- no other grape that I know of ( my brother will correct me?) has a nose and taste like this. Tannins are there but in check. Went great with pappadelle and pancetta/ tomato sauce. — 12 days ago

San Lorenzo Rosso Conero Red Blend 2015

I’ve been drinking a well-regarded Amaro fro le Marche lately, and the nose on this reminds me of that herb- infused smell. Also some smoke, tobacco, menthol, and a little barnyard funk . Lovely black fruit with some good tannins that blend in so well with food: on this case, homemade ricotta gnocchi, with homemade brasciole, homemade sausage ( homemade) tomato sauce, and garden greens from the deck. Feasting tonight. Such a soft, expressive wine. Rosso Conero is the finest expression of montepulciano — 7 days ago

Amaro dell'Erborista

Amaro from le Marche made since 1868. Very different- no sugar added to this- bitter- shocking at first- but really enjoyable by the 2nd and third sip. The bitterness fades, and u get a mix of herbal/ tree bark/ bitter chocolate/ coffee. Note- this is NOT a coffee flavored drink- just a hint on the finish. Really interesting. — 15 days ago

Farnio Rosso Piceno 2017

A really good weeknight wine. Nose is animated, with lots of dark cherry and warm brick minerality. Round and directly fruity in the mouth, bone dry, with a finish that turns a bit savory. Good balance. Not complex but has character. One of the better Picenos I’ve had. HT to my bro for this one. — a month ago

Rosso picenos are often 50/50. Rosso Conero is a much smaller area and has to be at least 90% montepulciano, and most are 100%. And Tom, you’re right. The old school rustic ones are unique. Here in CT. , now, I’m not sure there are any Rosso Conero available.
