Cornas Syrah
Sublime. Not a word I usually reserve for Cornas. Because I like my Cornas a little old school rough. But… I really did like this. Well made for sure. Hard to complain because it was delicious despite the lack of meat and horse…. Hahaha

Dec 25th, 2022Bright purple. Ripe dark berries, pungent flowers, olive paste and cracked pepper on the perfumed nose. Chewy and energetic on the palate, offering intense blackberry and bitter cherry flavors underscored by a vein of juicy acidity. Finishes on a smoky note, with repeating dark fruit character, rounded tannins and strong tenacity. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, April 2020)

Inky ruby. Mineral-accented aromas of fresh boysenberry, cherry, violet and olive paste pick up a smoky nuance in the glass. Deep-pitched black and blue fruit flavors reveal licorice, mocha and floral accents as the wine stretches out. Powerful but lively as well, finishing with repeating olive and floral character and slowly emerging, dusty tannins. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, September 2019)

Sep 6th, 2019Uttery delicious and hedonistic to drink. In your face fruit, profuse nose, invigorating in how quaffable it is especially given the appellation. Ripe black/blue fruit, powdered sugar, blood orange, creme de violet, sweet licorice, candied olive, granite. Upfront, fresh, a touch modern (no stem/possible new oak?) but not lacking soul. Pure pleasure. Come here non-syrah drinker, this will change you...

May 20th, 2017Blood orange, smoke and a little graphite. A bit light on the finish, but still tasty.

Nov 14th, 2018The dark fruit, plum, blueberry, and bramble all come together seamlessly. Beautiful wine, plenty of granite and smokey notes.
