Aubert
UV Vineyard Pinot Noir

WNH Sonoma Coast Pinot tasting.
I decanted this for almost two hours, consumed half, and then sealed and came back to it two days later.
Strawberry everything, for the most part. Strawberry preserves topped with some black pepper, sage, lots of floral notes, and currant. Acidity is really nice on the palate, with a lifted profile yet rich. Not full on kirsch, but some added ripe black raspberries, plum, and herbal spice toward the finish. When I came back to this a few days later, it was much more expressive and had just a kiss of orange zest. Obviously young, but fun to try. I’d hold another 3+yrs, or decant for a couple hours.

Very impressive nose. Dark and slightly bitter finish, though remarkably long.

One thing Aubert wines have in common is that they are all very different.
This pinot is relatively extracted, and it shows on the nose and palate. Notes of red currants, cedar and flowers on the nose. Tannins are prominent and provide texture. Perfect balance and long sweet finish make this a textbook pinot. This will cellar for many years to come.

Medium ruby, well-balanced, quite forward New World style with a violet pastille candy quality on the palate. Good earthiness and forest floor to back it up, mature, medium tannin and Iong finish

Pinot syrup but enough acid to keep it balanced! Not your average Sonoma Pinot

Rich red and black cherry. Slightly sweet and up front. Simple alongside the burgs. A little simple on the finish

Geez, one of the better Aubert pinots I’ve had. Wow. Rose petals, violets & birch wood on the nose. Gorgeous cherry tobacco on the palate and rhubarb and perfectly balanced acidity. Perfect finish showing candied black cherry. A tribute to Ulises Valdez...RIP to one of the premier farmers/vineyard managers in Sonoma.

Not going to mistake this for a Burgundy but still pretty and balanced. Age has suited this wine well.

Another 4th Friday for the books! Insane pulls this month to follow up the most epic month (April) that we’ve ever had!
Tonight, this showed some similarities to the Marcassin Pinot, with a touch less punch on the mid palate. The complexity here was awesome...oregano, rhubarb pie, ripe cherries. Acidity is still fairly dominant, but not overbearing. For my style, this is in its ideal drinking window.

Last Friday was our normal 4th Friday happy hour at the storage facility, but since this month had 5 Fridays, why not keep the party going?!
Aubert Pinot 😍. Much better after it has warmed up. Black cherry, cola, plum, amazing acidity and a black tea type note. I usually enjoy Aubert wines with a bit of age on them...this wine in 3-5 yrs will be heavenly.
