Well the holiday weekend is coming to a close and I hope everyone has enjoyed their time off. Tonight's wine I have opened the 2016 Au Bon Climat Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir. A blend of many different vineyards throughout the Santa Barbara County Au Bon Climat never ceases to blend a wonderful pinot noir.
The nose expresses aromas of strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, cherry, eucalyptus, vanilla, clove, caramel, and rose petals.
On the palate the red fruit is very prevalent with notes of strawberry, cranberry, cherry, spice, some nice minerality and earthy components.
The wine is a balanced medium to full bodied with a good racy medium + acidity almost high acidity and medium smooth tannins that move right into a fresh clean long finish. Another beautiful pinot noir from Jim Clendenon that doesn't miss. I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and look forward to a shortened work week. Have a great week and keep yourself safe. Really into this. Raspberries and just enough earthiness to remind you it is Pinot. Very juicy and smooth.

Delicate, but with focused Pinot character on the palette. Perfect with salmon on a plank with rosemary. Great QPR.

Nice Burgundian style Pinot with crushed rose petals, raspberries, and forest floor. Clean, inviting nose and engaged palate. Tasty.

Oct 21st, 2017Very aromatic with strong herb aromas, some wet leave and forest floor earthiness, and minor black cherry notes. Lots of tart acid (cranberries and tart cherries) but very herbal and lots of earthy notes... bordering on funky. Nice tannins and a long finish.

I enjoyed this wine a few days ago and it is truly delicious! Pomegranate..cranberries..rose petals..presents with a beautiful translucent color (remember the magenta crayola crayon with white wrapper)! Great balance! Definitely would seek this again!
