Petra Lava Rosso Etna DOC Nerello Blend
Starting to love Etna Rosso. Imagine drinking this on a patio in the summer. Brilliant.

Oct 22nd, 2022Great sense of place... you could taste the sun... and the light chalky tannins were like licking volcanic rock.

Nov 11th, 2016Ruby color with vinous red fruit, spice, and crushed rock aromas. On the palate it's medium-bodied, dry and fresh with abundant cherry jolly rancher, strawberry, and spice flavors with complemented by an appealing minerality and fine-grained tannins. Lingering finish

Antichi Vinai ‘Petra Lava’ Etna Rosso 2012: Medium-bodied. Medium acidity. Subtle tannins. Gorgeous deep red/coffee color with complex aromas. Intense ripe red fruits, followed by blackberry, plum, explosive minerality, smoke & earth. Off-dry finish. Consisting of the Sicilian native grapes Nerello Mascalese & Nerello Cappuccino, this red wine was such an elegant harmonious blend. I loved every sip from start to finish; bummer it was only a 375ml bottle! For me, it truly was a great reflection of the local terroir. Strongly recommend. Have a great day! Cheers🍷

May 29th, 2022Red earth. Just ripe cherry. Red currant. Rose hips. Blood orange. Sweet potpourri. Ethereal texture. Wanted the wine to be just a tad more expressive at first and imagine it could be with time and/or decanting.
Second night update: hypothesis proved right. Wine unwound a little on second night. More open and relaxed.
