Jul 17th, 2019Andrew Will wine tasting tonight at the storage facility. My knowledge and experience with WA state wines is small, so this was a great evening to learn and enjoy some very good wines.
A common theme with these wines is that they need air as well as bottle age. You aren't pop and pouring any of these. This one was the most fruit forward and flavor driven of the other single vineyard wines, with a good amount of black cherry, plum, herbs, spices and strawberry.

Popped and poured, consumed over three days with very little evolution over that period but if I had to make a call, I would say best on Day 3. It presents a turbid, deep ruby in the glass. On the nose, purple flowers, dried leaf tobacco, tomato leaf, and freshly tilled earth. On the palate, currants, tart blackberries, kalamata olive brine, dried blood...it’s saline, sanguine and ferrous in a real way. The 2012 Champoux Vineyard is a structured, high acid/high tannin Bordeaux blend of predominately Cabernet Franc with some Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for good measure. Long, long finish. A very earthy and mineral driven wine. Blind, there is no way I would call this New World. This bottle is yet another reminder why I truly believe Andrew Will makes some of the very greatest wines in Washington State. This has at least another decade of life left in it.

May 20th, 2017Welcome to Easter weekend and lets start the weekend off right with a wonderful Bordeaux Blend from Andrew Will, the 2011 Champoux Vinyard continues to impress. This is a right bank blend of 54% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The nose is beautifully expressive with notes of blackberry, black cherry, black currants, tobacco, licorice, chocolate, herbal notes, spice, violets and fresh tilled soil.
On the palate there is well balanced notes of black cherry, blackberry, black currant, green bell pepper that I love oh so much, chocolate, graphite shavings, and floral notes.
This is a full bodied wine with medium + acidity and firm outstanding gripping tannins. This wine does not disappoint.
Everyone have a great Easter weekend and please take thing easy, be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Opened another bottle I had tucked away, a blend of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby with a bouquet of aromatic perfumed spices and dark black fruit. Aged for 21 months in oak (35% in new French oak), the palate was fruit rich with blackberries and cherries, mineral and oak, nice structure and balance with a lingering finish, complex. Only 969 cases were made, search for this one!
