At almost seven years old, ideally when this wine should be drunk, this is unreal. Wow. Nose of pear, melon and some airy minerals. Almost and ocean breeze and gorgeous kiss of oak. But the palate is the showstopper here. Racy, energetic and super precise, this is Grand Cru all the way. Lean and juicy with only a hint of richness but it is deftly there and part of it all. Lemony, grapefruit finish. Stunning. Icing on a cake texture and terrific, grip, power and depth but nimble and no extra fat as 16 is a lean, no frills vintage. Staggeringly elegant. This is so good and so Laible. Nothing else like it. Almost a 9.6.

Needs 5 years at this point but so so promising. Spicy apple, spices, discreet framing oak, supermineral, floral and a deep nose that is always unfolding. Complex and concentrated with a richness and also a freshness. Ripe apples and pears abound with minimal stone fruits I usually expect from Grau. Very pure. Very clean. Needs 5 years as it almost shows backwards but I had this on release and it will get there.

Pop and pour. Disappearing quickly. On the nose: pear, lemon oil, wet stone, hazelnut. On the palate: lovely acidity, but really stunning density, hazelnut oil, lemon, soft pepper and limestone. Wow. Really lovely and slathered in minerality.
