What a stunner. Sweet fruit is fading but awesome earthy, tobacco goodness in full effect. Sangiovese with age can be a beautiful thing

Fruit is fading, giving way to lovely notes of tobacco, leather, dried herbs and porcini.
Slightly drying finish prevents this wine from an excellent score.

This was unfortunately more over the hill than I prefer. We let it open up for about 30 minutes. It still had good acidity and body, as well as some aged fruit, but it’s age overpowered the other flavors for me.

Very nicely aged Brunello. Leather, tobacco, sour cherries, dust. Perfect with pasta or a good piece of pork....

A great representation of BdM, but I maybe expected a wee bit more from this producer especially for this vintage. I think it will be fading soon...drink up.

Magical nose of rich red fruit and mushroom notes. Fully resolved tannins but lovely delicate acidity and delicious fruit. Long finish

Very concentrated wine. Dark color and great nose of roasted herbs, cherries, earth and tobacco. Nineteen years old and ready to go, drinking great. Think this was Wine Spectator’s wine of the year when released.

1997 brunellos are drinking well. This one seems to have the stuffing to evolve for several more years! Good depth of flavor and long finish.
