I have only had Greek wines one time, at a conference reception, so essentially, this is my first, focused tasting of a Greek wine, the 2015 Alpha Estate Malagouzia Turtles Vineyard, PGI Florina (Macedonia, Greece), obviously my first malagouzia as well. My first impression of this wine is that it is a bit reminiscent of torrontés. In the glass, it displays a pale, greenish-yellow hue. Honeysuckle and stone fruit aromatics leap from the glass. Mouthwatering grapefruit, green apple, and melon flavors intertwine with a sur lie induced, textured mouthfeel. The result is a wine that's both juicy and substantial, with tangy acidity and a finish that goes on and on. (sample)

My first Malagouzia. Crisp and complex. Tart apple and melon flavors. Lots of minerality. Nice wine.

Perfect wine for branzino and light Greek tapas after a day on the coast. My first tango with Malagousia (ancient varietal native to Macedonia). Aromatic--someone in another review likened to torrontes, which i think is spot on. Bright, zesty with refreshing lemony acidity like a sauv blanc but with a much fuller body--likely from the extended time on the lees. My favorite part is that the name of the Single-Vineyard is Turtle Vineyard and there is an emblem of the turtle on the back label. What can I say? I love slow, ancient reptiles and Greek wines.

Beautiful crisp and hearty wine. Nuanced fresh fruit (Apple, Pear) after about 30 minutes out of the bottle. Wonderful, yet very young.

Beautiful light airy wine that is light on the palette and goes beautifully well with seafood.

Crisp, but balanced acidity, peaches in front but some interesting fruit I can't identify - not quite apricot or sultanas. Very pale straw color. Thinner than a dry Gewurtztraminer.
