Our first encounter with the Piëmont Region in early 2000’s. Little did we know, but these two very modest brothers wanted to do a bit different from the other traditionalist. Now this wine shows that keeping wine can prove very benificial. All typical barolo characterisation fits on this wine. Lots of roses and tar, leather, herbes. Very silky smooth tanine. Barolo too the max.

Another terrific 2013 Barolo, and my favorite of the evening. Well integrated flavors, this balanced Barolo has what it needs to age for many more years, but thanks to the vintage. Is accessible now. Delicious.

All bass, no treble. Lacking high-toned and effusive aromatics but compensating in it’s depth and richness. Silkier tannins for Monforte, elegant and present. Very savory and dark, weighty. Could argue that it needs more time to come together but that dark fruit is appealing now. Played well is mushroom braised short ribs and polenta.

Already quite mature. Soft,
sweetly aromatic and feminine. Damp roses, blood orange, wet concrete, strawberry rhubarb pie in graham cracker crust. Supple tannins, persistent acidity. Incredible lifted floral perfume and elegance.

Some aged Barolo. Less fruit as expected. Tar, tobacco, leather, strawberry, raspberry. Buon!

60+ yr old vines estate in Bussia, growing in sandy clay, southward facing, 3800 plants per hectare, fermented in large botti, wood aged 60% botti, 40% barrique. Texture vastly detailed, continuously improving.

Started off quite shy. Still opening, in decanter, 2hrs later. Not crazy about the tinge of brett. Still, it has a bad case of blah. Stay tuned.

The nose is classic Barolo, showing dusty cherry, spice, dried floral tones, leather and hints of undergrowth. On the palate, it displayed a feminine structure with pure red fruit and fresh acidity giving way to hints of licorice and spice through the close. Spice notes lingered along with hints of rosy florals.
