The 2010 Il Grigio Da San Felice Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. 80% Sangiovese blended with a variety of the regions indigenous grapes. The Gran Selezione designation is pretty cool....the wines are produced exclusively on the estate & aged a minimum of 30 months (3 months in bottle.) A Gran Selezione is considered a level above a Chianti Classico Reserva & is now the highest designation for wines from Chianti Classico. The new category was approved by the European Commission in February of 2014.

Dec 23rd, 2015Great maroon color. Lively and herbal and toasty, less funky. Good balanced tannin. Strong fruit presence. Seamless throughout the long finish. Crying for a Supreme pizza. Damn delicious wine.

A bit hot on the nose with some menthol coming through. Great acidity with a surprisingly silky plush mouthfeel. Oak and cherry on the finish.

Aug 12th, 2014Beautiful and classic Gran Selezione Chianti. Truly top-notch and just $48.50. Cherry followed by an astringent Chianti bite in the finish.
