The 2010 Il Grigio Da San Felice Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. 80% Sangiovese blended with a variety of the regions indigenous grapes. The Gran Selezione designation is pretty cool....the wines are produced exclusively on the estate & aged a minimum of 30 months (3 months in bottle.) A Gran Selezione is considered a level above a Chianti Classico Reserva & is now the highest designation for wines from Chianti Classico. The new category was approved by the European Commission in February of 2014.

Really amazing Chianti. Lots of red fruit, herbs, soil. Very complex. Great balance. An acidic, medium body wine, with moderate tannins. Finish lingers nicely.

A tad oaky at first, this benefited from lots of air. Structured steak wine.

Deep ruby red, delicate fruits and tosty hints, well integrated tannins, pleasant freshness. Harmonious.

Soft and fruity, but without the spiciness expected from a great Chianti
