Deep Ruby red color with lovely nose of fruit, floral and spice, blend of Syrah, Cab Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Merlot and Carignan. On the palate cherry and blackberry flavors with licorice and earthy herb notes. Fine tannins, good balance with acidity, medium+ finish ending with fruit and an earthy character.

Fantastic, old school, rustic Carignan that went great with spicy tomato sauce. Sends a jolt of wild berry and tart cherry across the palate, tight and wound up like a drum. Very tense, quite tannic, this needs either time or lots of air, and food is a must. The finish and the overall impression lingers quite nicely. This bottle generated conversation around the table, got people's attention. This is exactly what is needed when it's needed. Tons of charm.

Wild blackberries and boysenberries. Dry, big tannins, but the fruit still is pronounced. Hint of green vine and potpourri. This should age very well.

The 2018 Montessu Isola dei Nuraghi mixes crushed violets with hints of blackberry and spice to form an alluring bouquet. This is a feminine and understated effort, showcasing floral-laced woodland berries, minerals and juicy acids. It tapers off clean and poised with lingering notes of sweet plum and licorice. While this vintage doesn’t show the power that I usually associate with this wine, it is a well-balanced expression that will excel at the dinner table. (Eric Guido, Vinous, March 2021)
