Full bodied brilliance from Cabernet Sauvignon vines which are relatively young on Wendouree standards planted in 1971 and 2002. Wonderful depth and persistence with that marvellous tannin structure.

The wine was a gift from me to my brother Mike on his 70th Birthday a couple of years ago and yesterday at lunch at his place he decided to open it. The Wine itself had trademark aromas of menthol and eucalyptus. On the palate a powerful mid to full bodied palate with great savoury length and medium persistent tannins. Lacking a little berry fruit to be ultra critical.

So fresh, complex, satisfying. Great flesh with extreme aristocracy. It is quite impossible to list how many sensations this wine can communicate through a simple sniff. Useless to say that lives on a balance that might lead it to a long life.

After the Cabernet Malbec 2002 it was so young and tannic that we had to slow down, but it was far more savoury and long. The big surprise is after 24 hours of a glass left in an open decanter...the wine was perfect and smoother and so much more enjoyable...an absolute killer this wine😻😻

Overwhelming nose of menthol/moth balls. Dominates everything. Tannins starting to soften. Texturally very good but overall the hype on Wendouree is overblown IMO.
