IDIG Großes Gewächs Riesling
Stunning and wide open nose. So clean. Insane clarity. Peach but juuuust barely ripe. Amazing minerality. Shimmering and expansive. Ripe citrus. More tangelo and blood orange than grapefruit. Palate is tense and a bit closed but oh so promising. Linear and focused like a laser. Super long finish and astonishing purity. Silky and refined. So juicy and clean. Wow what structure and density. Almost tannic on the finish. A baby but the finish is maybe one of the longest I’ve had in a while. Stunning. I’ll be back as it needs air. Nose is so rocky and so mineral. Almost no fruit except some light peach. Palate is expanding and the mid is opening with some tangy peach flesh which leads to the insanely long mineral and silky finish.
10 hours later this is singing. Wow. Total confectionary nose and stunning finesse. Almost a 9.8.

Pale to mid Gold - brilliant clarity. Fulsome on the palate for a Dry German Riesling (12.7.% Alcohol). Aromas of cumquat jam and on the palate profound intensity with palate staining flavours with Apricot and honey. One can see why the favourite varietal of many winemakers is Riesling because it is pure grape juice which speaks of its terroir - no oak influence. This is superb. One of the best Dry German Rieslings I have had. Interestingly Christmann grow a very good Pinot Noir (Spatburgunder) on these same Limestone based soils.

Aug 4th, 2018Had it December 2014.
Very good, quite dry version in this vintage, very minerally, fat as well. It goes down easily and above all it lingers beautifully. Yes, yes , yes✌️✌✌
