Domaine Gourt de Mautens (Jérôme Bressy)

Vaucluse Red Rhone Blend 2015

What an amazing bouquet on the 2015 Gourt de Mautens, @jebdunnuck seriously called it here. This Rhone blend was seductive from the onset, showing a mix of ripe blackberry, black raspberry, crushed violet candies, lavender, stone dust and a hint of animal muskiness. On the palate, textures like liquid silk wrapped around the senses as a display of remarkably fresh yet saturating red and black berry fruit seemed to hover, dispersing violet florals, licorice, minerals and hints of grippy herbal tea-like tannin across all that they touched. Balanced to the core, with brisk acidity making light of the wines amazing textural depth and resulting in a finish that was both impossibly long, amazing fresh, yet structured all the same. I can still taste the purple inner floral and dark fruit tones, having lost track of how long the finish has been going. It’s hard to fault the 2015 Gourt de Mautens for anything, and incredibly easy to become lost in it. #rhone #gourtdemautens #rasteau — 2 years ago

La Font de Notre Dame Rasteau Red Rhone Blend 2012

High alcohol on the nose and palate was very difficult to get by. All other structural components were medium and after an hour open I got some chocolate, faint red fruit, and faint herbs. This is neither an elegant nor complex wine. #rasteau #southernrhone #grenache — 4 years ago

Rasteau Grenache Blend 2015

Bright. Kirsch and strawberry compote, balanced well by a savory, salvia-like quality. Hint of castor bean. Like all Xavier ‘15s, it juggles tannin, low pH, big ripeness. Superb. #xavier #rasteau #grenache #rhone — 3 years ago

So nice old Grenache! Strawberries and liquorice at its best! And so smooth with a looooong finish. #escaravailles

Domaine Gourt de Mautens (Jérôme Bressy)

Rasteau Red Rhone Blend 2009

It's been a while since I've had a chance to taste the 2009 Gourt De Mautens, and i must say that I'm pretty impressed with it's evolution. Here I found a haunting bouquet of blackberry and marine-inspired minerality, along with moist earth, hints of animal musk, dusty florals and sweet dark spices. It was vibrant and finessed on the palate, yet deceptively so, as mineral-encrusted blackberry and cherry fruit gave way to sweet spice and herbal tones on a silky frame with sweet tannin. The finish was long and polished, showing black fruit and spice contrasted by a hint of sweet herbs and lingering tannin. What a beautiful wine, which I'm so happy to revisit and feel assured that there are many years of development ahead. #rasteau #jeromebressy #rhone — 3 years ago

A great pleasure to catch up... and to discover such an interesting wine, which was like a walk in a forest in September: earthy with blackberries and a sense of mystery.
