@Delectable Wine this is the 2017 Newton Johnson Family Vineyards Cape Winemakers Guild Windansea Pinot Noir.

Our first time every at the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and we will make sure to come back! (Tasting was on 9/28/18).

Fourteenth wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the third red wine. This is made up of 100% Pinot Noir by Gordon Newton Johnson from a single vineyard (Windansea) in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley region in Walker Bay. Aged for a total of seventeen months, six of which were in large oak barrels prior to bottling. Only 100 cases produced with 40 being auctioned in 2018.

Light to medium ruby red. Elegant nose layered with perfume, black cherries, spices and a little bit of minerality. Medium plus acidity (7/10) and light plus to medium bodied. Well balanced palate with layers of dark crushed flowers, cinnamon, black currants and twigs. Long and lingering finish with some minerality coming through. Drink till 2029.
