The Royal Tokaji Wine Company

Essencia Furmint Blend 2008

to finish, 2008 #RoyalTokaji Essencia 💥: Breathtakingly intense (more so than any other botrytised dessert #wine I have had), super-concentrated honey-apricot elixir, with hints of ginger and cardamom, kept fresh by an undercurrent of lemony acidity. This is #Hungary's rarest #Tokaji and is so concentrated that tradition demands that you drink (slurp) it from a crystal spoon. The czar 👑 of #Russia used to keep it by his bedside for medicinal purposes, prompting me to call it "Robitussin for Royals". From grapes picked by hand with scissors and fermented over a period of several years. One of 2,908 half-bottles made from 2008, which is only the fifth vintage declared for it since its first in 1993. We're lucky that it hasn't been categorized as a "controlled substance". #drinklikeabillionaire

Langhe Freisa Vivace

pronounced ""Fray-zah," this grape from Italy's Piedmont makes a light, charming, low-$, sometimes fizzy red that resonates with wild strawberry - perfect with #PasqualeJones' delectable #pizza - #DrinkLikeABillionaire — 7 years ago
