Chappellet

Signature Donn Chappellet Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Founded by Donn and Molly Chappelet in 1967 on renowned Pritchard Hill. A blend of 79% Cab Sauv, 12% Petit Verdot & 9% Malbec. Deep Ruby with purple edges, aromas of dark berry fruits, cedar, cacao and sweet herbs. On the palate rich flavors of blackberry and currants with sweet oak and herbs with a great mouthfeel. Soft fine tannins, long ending with fruit and sweet oak. Will improve but great now! — 4 years ago

Mountain Cuvée Proprietor's Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2016

This is a great Bordeaux blend from California. Well balanced and fruit forward with cedar, chocolates and coffee notes.

Good right out of the bottle, and better as it opens up and shows some tannins (30 minutes).

Still young and will benefit from a year or two of bottle time.

Good by itself or with food. A great sipping wine.

Delicious and yummy. I love these Bordeaux blends.

A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 13% Malbec, 9% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. 73% Napa Valley 27% Sonoma County.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Ognostro Aglianico 2012

Give it lots of air and it rewards. Such an intriguing wine. First time I had it, all I could see was tamarind, soy sauce, olive, meat. Decanted it big time this time round and you can add some deep seated black cherries to that. And oh, super inky! Finish was rather short though. Acidity was also super weird. Straight out of the bottle, the aglianico acid was apparent and then it disappeared (unbalanced almost, old almost). All in all, a pretty rewarding drink. — 8 years ago

Domaine du Pélican Arbois Chardonnay 2015

Delicious, notes honey, a little funk, concentrated and mineral driven and rich. Aged in old oak barrels for 10 months, malolactic fermentation and biodynamic. — 5 years ago

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2015

Tropical fruits, some citrus, brioche, touch of butter. While oak is present it’s subtle to me. Light acid. First time trying this - didn’t know they made a Chard! — 7 years ago

Ample, creamy and sensual in the glass, with soft, silky tannins that add raciness. Hints of lavender, spice and mint develop with air, but it is the wine’s total finesse that steals the day. An especially romantic, alluring expression of Volnay.... — 5 years ago

Domaine Marquis d'Angerville

Clos des Ducs Monopole Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2011

Very brooding, giving up very little at first. After an hour of air, red fruit and spice come through with good balance. The palate is medium bodied and has great acidity. This is nice now, but a few years too early. Another 5-8 years at least and will last 25+. — 7 years ago
