Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2009

Ron R

Hope I’ve selected the correct wine.
Birthday celebration for my soulmate. Cristal always delivers.
Coming up to room temp. Warm bread notes on the nose and palate. Balance personified on the mid palate. Soft bubbles combine with apples and mild peach. Grossly understated. Love it…

Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019

Such a lovely and fruity flavour wine. Majority of passion fruits and slightly citrusy. — 4 years ago

Rüncot Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo 2010

Well balanced with nice tannin structure. Berries abound, with nice mouth fell. Long finish makes this a winner — 5 years ago

Château Montrose

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 1990

A gorgeous open knit wine. Soft edges of cherry and play dough and a deep cote of intense fruit with iron, dark plum. On the palate there’s blueberry and a s steeled minerality- the tannins are resolved and this is super intense and delicious with a beautiful balance. Long. Really good — 7 months ago

Mayacamas Vineyards

Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 1986

Amazingly still has deep ruby color. Very little sediment. Opened 45-60 min before drinking. It opened up rather quick. Aromas of forest floor, cedar, herb, red and black fruits with super silky tannins and great acidity. Perfectly balanced . Drank more like a really good aged bordeaux. Very sad that Napa doesn't make them like this anymore..I wish I had a cellar full of these old gems. Its like stepping back in time.. — 6 years ago

Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay 2019

This one surprised me in a good way. Tasty. Lemons, ripe apples, rocks, jasmin, apple peel, brioche, hazelnuts. Great balance and length. Impressive craft behind this cuvée. Fantastic value! — a year ago

Ao Yun Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc 2013

It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a tasty one from China.

Dark ruby in color with a short brick rim.

Earthy nose with blueberries, black currants, blackberries, wood, light vanilla, espresso, wet leaves, forest floor, smoke, tobacco leaf, spices, graphite, vegetables, bell pepper, licorice and black pepper.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with with blueberries, sweet cherries, black plums, oak, licorice, cloves, earth, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, wet leaves, black tea, peppercorn and leather.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a nice surprise. My first Chinese wine, and that's a great start. Showing nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Feels like a Left Bank Bordeaux.

This 6 year old is nicely balanced, although could use a few more years in the bottle to mature.

Interesting enough to drink by itself with good friends and talk about.

Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show the complexity.

Thank you Sonny for sharing this with me.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Grapes are grown at over 8,000 feet elevation.

15% alcohol by volume.

91 points.
