Initially, upon opening, I thought this was too extracted and scorchy, but after just a bit of air that sensation receded and the wine softened and developed. Nose is classic Zin black raspberry fruit, and nice briary, soft herbal note, and some moist gravel, river stones notes in the background. Ripe, but not too ripe, and extracted, but not too extracted, in the mouth. Has a dry, full-bodied feel, with a bit a peppery heat and some scratchy tannin in the finish. Seems like fewer and fewer Zin producers are interested in anything other than a loud wine, but at least this isn’t too loud.

My first time trying a wine from Bedrock, a Sonoma producer who have a reputation for creating exceptional wines from old-vine Zinfandel.

This entry level bottling is very good - and very young. Brambly, with blackberry, black cherry, smokey barbecued meat, tobacco, black pepper & chocolate. Very full bodied, spicy, certainly not jammy but quite serious in its fruit profile - I actually found this quite Cabernet-like - with angular tannins and dried cherry acidity.

Nice to have a Zinfandel for the first time in what must be over a year!

The 2017 Zinfandel Old Vine is gorgeous. Fresh, floral and beautifully perfumed, it is light on its feet yet delivers tons of flavor intensity. Super-ripe red cherry, red plum, cedar, tobacco and floral notes are all pushed forward. Silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. The 2017 was aged 60% in foudres of various sizes and 40% in smaller French oak barrels. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2019)

In line with the previous vintages’ high marks. Beautiful zin. Layered and elegant, and subtle.

Primarily a Sonoma Zin. A touch of Petite Syrah and Carignan are added. Big black cherry and boysenberry fruit with hints of licorice and black tea. Lots of exotic spice flavors on the finish. Medium bodied. Fresh and juicy, but balanced and especially smooth. Great compliment to barbecue.
