The 2015 La Vieille Cure is a treat and drinking very well right now. Good depth, plenty going on. Rich fruits of cherry and cranberry. Licorice and leather. Classic Bordeaux and a really good value.

Beautifully polished (modern). Dark, palate-staining berry character. Classy oak upfront, some intimations of cedar and graphite as well. I decanted and enjoyed but would benefit from some aging

It’s very Bordeaux-y blackberries in a cedar box. The aroma is on point and does not taste like it’s got the reported 15% ABV. Still that’s just too much alcohol to drink more than 1 glass, even if it’s got that old cure in it.

The 2015 La Vieille Cure is superb. Ample and explosive on the palate, with tremendous depth, the 2015 is an arrestingly beautiful wine that never lets up. Red cherry jam, licorice, new leather, blood orange and spice all infuse this flamboyant, spectacularly rich Fronsac. What a wine! (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2018)

Did a blind taste off with this and a very high end Napa Cab. Two of six chose this one. Fair enough. It is explosive, complex and delicious. Dark fruit, leather. All very distinctly Bordeaux. Yum.

I had this in the past and couldn’t remember much about it. Now on NYE, it’s what we paired with our chicken dinner and it is delicious. First taste feels flat but then you feel it bounce on your tongue with hints of pepper

Nose: Dark cherry, black currant, a touch of cinnamon, gravel.

Flavor: Lighter body than most Bordeaux. Sweet up from. Lots of dark fruits. Long finish with leather. Stronger on the alcohol.

Strong, but not overwhelming tannins. Medium acidity.

Overall: Good, but not great. Would try a different bottle before buying again.

HWT - $53 on sale for $47. Delicious and bold, unexpected for a French wine
