La Bastide Minervois Carignan Blend

Great pepper, dark mildly tannic. Worth the $16.

Nose is wood and alcohol. Licorice, wood barrel, earth roots. Cork an issue. Taste aged.

Pepper and saddle on the nose with soft tannins. Slightly subtle for a Rhone.

Double duty: burgers and tuna. Big ask. Light enough in body and sugar to work as a summer red, but skin/stem bit of edge to keep a backbone to it.

Musty, earthy, leathery nose. Dark berries and white pepper on the palate. Interesting wine...

Musty nose, funky, dry, dirty

Medium acid, medium tannin, medium finish. Red and black fruits, cherries, plums, slight tobacco. Not the most complex, but enjoyable.

Not for the faint of heart. Flavorful minervois that will take time to appreciate for the uninitiated. Spicy, yet subtle, with light blackberry, cherry and chocolate undertones. Definitely only for steak!

Riper, darker and more fruit forward than previous vintages. Still shows lots of spice in finish.

N: floral that then comes to red licorice.
P: rose like and red cherries.
*super stuffed up with a cold when tasting wine today. :/
