Lively, fresh and a touch of austere (in a good way of course!)

Rich, ripe, vintage driven and not terroir driven; a phenomenal consumer vintage.

I drank this instead of watching the debate. I'm pleased with that decision. Pretty rich (which seems to be a sign of the vintage), but not heavy. As dynamic and complex as I expect from Dutraive. These wines get me.

Ok. I gave this an 8.9. Left it overnight (uncorked and unrefrigerated by mistake) and something magical happened. a fascinating savory sangria potpourri of spices, a velvety smoothness and just utterly unctuous—not typically a good word for wine, but appropriate here.

A feminine and unusually ripe Fleurie with pretty aromas of rose petals, wild strawberries, raspberry, and thyme. 2015 was a hot year in Beaujolais boosting this ABV up to 13% (I know because I called Polaner Selections having seen 12% and 14.5% on the internet and nothing specific on the bottle). The texture is perfect - pillowy soft and supple with a cool mouth slow to reveal an acidic underpinning. It is so impressive what Dutraive is able to come up with in an anomaly of a year. A beautifully murky wine bridging elegance and rusticity.

2015. Simply beautiful wine in every way. Fresh & finessed, yet loaded with that 2015 power.
