Fuck me this is delicious. Fireworks 💥 .
Love 2011s and this has all the classic seductiveness of cappellano with great structure while still being young. Classic liquorish, rose petal bouquet 💐 got em

Coming in at 15% alc … you can see the framework of incredible fruit spice layers behind the alcohol. Had this not been dumbed down by the alcohol, it would be a very pretty, layered, elegant wine.

Hot vintage Barolo

2011 required winemaking skill to create complex & interesting wines

DAY 1
Served with the Vinlog System
👃Perfumed & candied red fruit, cinnamon, spice, tar, roses, & resin. Spectacular

👅Good balance of fruit, acidity, & tannins. Lovely finish and pleasant tannins

The remaining wine “Slow Decanted” in my refrigerator

DAY 14
👅Smoke, tar, red fruit, pine resin, and a bit of spice. Elegant & beautiful

Very enjoyable now but it has plenty of life ahead. This wine should not suffer a narrow or short drinking window despite the 2011 conditions. In fact, I would expect this wine to become more serious with additional bottle age🍷🍷

Sitting out by the pool eating a wood fired Sicilian style pizza & drinking one of my favorite Barolo producers. This was open & seemed ready to go that had a dried, sour cherry, with sweet savory spice, balsamic notes, forest floor, tar, dried herbs, leather & rose petal. In a word Excellent!

What a beauty. Has a pure and mature quality about it. Really no need to hold onto it - tannins are hardly noticeable. The fruit is sweet and high toned with a slight char at the end, and the finish lingers with the taste of licorice.

The ‘11 is just singing right now. Terrific straight from the bottle but began to lose structure and focus by the last glass as it warmed up and aerated.

Very advanced for a 2011, but quite enchanting. Tart cherry, red licorice, and dried roses. Firm yet approachable tannins. Beautiful barolo!
