Lewis Cellars
Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Intoxicating nose of a very high end Napa Cab. Plenty of legs left to it but still very smooth going down. Heavy but delicious. Super ripe assorted berries and almost evolving to a black raspberry. A sip disappears quickly on the tongue - leaving you reaching for the glass before you know it.

The first impression is, bizarrely enough, of banana, red fruit, and just a hint of yellow peach. The finish is long long long already, and soft as velvet. This is going to be a monster wine when it starts peaking in ~2020.

When you open a bottle even if it is rated highly like the 2013 cab from Lewis you frankly have an eerie feeling until you smell and taste the wine
That said I feared opening up this new born baby was dangerous if not potentially stupid.
I am happy to say there are times when the stars align and this was one of those times- decanted 2 hours - Deep red cherry and dark berries mixed together color - beautiful aromas of ripe blackberry, toasty oak spices, black truffle and cappuccino provide a all encompassing delight - my taste buds are feeling aligned with fleshy and supple tannins and then expand into concentrated fruit layers with chocolaty, fine-grained tannins
Big bold and beautiful and of course we finished with face wide smiles - bravo Lewis

Rich, soft tannins, dark fruit, new oak. A bit over the top for my tastes, but it was very nice with dessert

Jan 26th, 2019I have been a Lewis fan for years. Glad to finally see them get the accolades they deserve, being listed as Wine Spectators top rated Wine of the Year 2017. Unassuming and dedicated to making the best wine every year, the have quietly been making it to the top of a lot of other people's list. This is the Reserve, so it is a great plus to their regular Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep and dark, plums and licorice, and a lingering finish. The nose is amazing. Decanted for 2 hours, it was perfect with the bone in filet.

May 14th, 2017Spectacular Napa Cab - definitely lived up to the hype. Nose is haunting - blackberry, dried cherry. On the palate, it's like velvet. Fruity notes but dry - overall, the best Cab I've had.
