From stalwart Rhône producer Chapoutier's Roussillon label, the Bila-Haut Occultum Lapidem offers a polished, more tethered expression of Côtes du Roussillon Village. Wilted herbs, thyme, lavender, peppercorn, and raspberry liqueur flesh out on the palate, before finding a saltier, more gripping finds finish of decent length. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan.

Full body, dark purple dry wine. Black cherry, herb and spice flavoring. Goes great with my New York hand tossed pizza!

Very good. Cherry, herbs, spice mild tannins. Nicely balanced. Enjoyable bottle of wine. Not quite able to stand up to steak.

Opened late last night. Had two glasses. It was somewhat subtle, earthy, and had hints of dried tobacco leaves. Today there are tiny hints of licorice, but really just big, dark fruit. I like it. Might buy it again.

Dec 31st, 2016Very good. Big flavor. Big fruit. Get lots of cherry and maybe even blackberry. Has nice sweetness to it. Smooth, but maybe a little much in the alcohol. Even finish that's buttery on the end.
