Aged perfectly. Would be very hard to call blind. Tastes like a 1er cru burg. Love.

Weekly Wednesday Wine Committee and this was a special treat as not only was Weston from Montagu Wines in attendance, but Jason Moore, owner and winemaker for Modus Operandi Wines out of Napa. Blind format as always. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert.

My first Hanzell Chardonnay I believe. I was convinced this was a white burgundy, most likely Chablis. So little acid and oak in this. Very surprised it was west coast. Great fruit profile and finish of limestone, slate, honeyed almonds, but thrown off my the fairly light mid palate.

12’ Hanzell Chardonnay. DECANT for 30 minutes.
Straw / pale gold color ?
Stone fruits , tangerine, pineapple, pear.
This lingers on the palate for a good 45 seconds. Complexity from the mid -palate on...doesn’t change.

Go Gators! This '12 Hanzell is smooth, yet also a little creamy. It's very polished, very approachable, yet still complex.

Hanzell Vineyards 2012 Chardonnay is poised, 26% of the wine goes through malolactic fermentation in new barrels, with the balance matured in stainless steel. The resulting blend strikes a harmonious balance between freshness and oak, with pretty notes of ripe pear, lemon curd, marzipan, and meadow flowers. These notes are echoed on the palate, along a fine silky cord that steadily unfurls, with each layer providing dimension—a sort of weightless, gossamer expanse that closes with baking spice. Sample

Beautifully balanced, creamy, fresh, a bit earthy, a little caramel on the finish #chardonnaydinner #hanzell

Day 4 but still holding its own. Fruit, butterscotch and acidity still prominent, but a shade blunted. To be expected, I guess.

A delicious finish to a happy weekend of mild excess. When someone you care about says they don't like Chardonnay, give them this. It's a game changer. This wine demands, and will get, your attention.

No way you find this for $33. Anyway, double decanted, smooth, deep, bright, and brilliant. Ultra delicious. Light and lush at the same time.
