Huge amounts of petroleum on the nose. Good acidity on the palette with grapefruit, peaches and apricots. Finishes mildly sweet. Memories of my daughter’s wedding.

Oct 5th, 2017Screw the Riesling for the moment - eyes right. Look, I'm not bragging about my cooking capabilities, but metro-man strikes again. Atlantic cod n baked chips with mushy peas - English style, and home made.
Now back to the wine... it's not as good as my cooking! Grapefruit and lemon zest on the nose. Palete has vibrancy with delicate sweetness. Pineapples citrus fruits bring up the rear. Not too much to write home about here. To be fair, the wine didn't stand a chance tonight 😃

Only my second Montelena Riesling, the previous being a 1972 (although only two years ago). This was clean, slightly off dry, and a nice quaffer on a hot afternoon.

Notes of honey on the nose and palate. Right away and has an almost mead like taste to it. But as it opens notes of apricot and petrol come out. Really great wine!
