Young, and surprisingly ripe. Cascina Francia regularly develops that extra notch of fruit, and it shows here - helping to make this more accessible now. Bodes well for the future, when that fruit pulls back a bit to reveal more complexity.

The Giacomo Conterno estate in Piemonte is the Godfather of Barolo producers and this finely crafted 2008 was like velvet in a glass...an ethereal red comparable to great Burgundy!
