A brooding nose of dark fruit with whiffs of tobacco, plum, dried wood. A thick and intense palate of pretty serious fruit. Young, but tasty stuff.

Monthly wine group met up and had an Italian wine night at one of the local Italian BYOB spots. Really fantastic Italian wines were brought, as well as some random bottles that were outside the theme (but worthy of opening regardless of theme).

What a pull by
@Mark Flesher ! This got a little under two hours of bottle decanting before dinner. I was able to have a sip right after Mark opened it and I said “this will be my favorite of the night”...and I think it was. This has everything you’re looking for...great medley of red and black fruits, tar, vanilla tobacco, gorgeous structure. This will be at its peak in 3 or so years. Killer wine.

Rooftop dining a' la Italia. The bouquet of cherry blossoms and sweet rose petal was so inviting, 90 minute decant and this was ready to go, silky smooth entry, leather, cedar and sweet ripe red fruit. Very balanced and structured. Evolved exceptionally over the next 90 minutes. One of the best brunello's I've had with less than 10 years of bottle age.

Extracted Sangiovese. Tastes like Bolgheri in a good way.

2006 vintage. Decanted. Still...tons of richness and fruit with nutmeg, cinnamon, damp cedar and sugarplum notes. Years to go...8.25.23.
