Château Léoville Poyferré
Saint Julien Red Bordeaux Blend
The 2010 Léoville-Poyferré has a very intense bouquet with blackberry, briary cedar and light estuarine/seaweed aromas that are very well defined. Pure class. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, layers of pure black fruit laced with pencil lead and a pinch of white pepper. It fans out wonderfully towards the finish, a Saint-Julien demonstrating wonderful density and precision. What an outstanding wine, perhaps less flamboyant than other vintages, one that will last decades. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal. (Neal Martin, Vinous, April 2020)

Delicious, rich, engulfing, well structured, complex. Built to age, it's impressive. I'm going to be on the lookout for some of this 2010 Leoville Poyferre - ideal for a party in 2035 or so.

Mar 6th, 2018Fourth wine in flight four for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with wines from Saint Julien and Pauillac.
A little disappointed in this bottling, only assumption we have is that it needs time. Super dark core with medium ruby edges. Quite dark on the nose with some earthiness. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium plus bodied. Tons of red berries on the palate with solid minerality. Solid acidity and dry long finish. Drink from 2020 till 2040. (89-92)

Very expressive aromatics, rich, ripe, round tannins. Possibly a touch too ripe, but will offer much pleasure to most.

Jan 4th, 2014Lovely, integrated nose of French vanilla, black cherry and ripe strawberries and a hint of perfume. Layered flavors of cherries, strawberry and dark chocolate are backed by soft, tiny tannins and mild oak on the finish.
