Popped and poured. The 2006 Vallegrande pours a garnet color with a slightly orange rim. Medium+ viscosity with no signs of sediment and no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is beginning to express some secondary notes but still being led by fruit: cherries, dried herbs, some tar, red flowers, and spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (which is integrating well) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Drinking well now with some patience and should continue to do so for another 5-10 years.

Nov 8th, 2023This bottle was poured into a decanter about 30 minutes prior and served double-blind. It was subsequently enjoyed over the next several hours. The wine pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core. No staining of the tears and medium+ viscosity. On the nose, cherry, cranberry, red flowers, tar, and dusty earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. Called Langhe Nebbiolo from a warm vintage like 2012 or 2015. Close! I don’t have a lot of experience with this producer but it showed pretty well and considering it’s a 2009, it’s certainly holding up well. Drink now and over the next 5-10 years.
