Marsannay that ages like Gevrey

rich on the nose, violet, graphic. deeply colored, quite broad and silky, firm tannins. really nice. indigenous yeast.

375 ml. Exotic smoky, perfumed aromatics as I would expect from Roty. Very bright, defined and linear with red fruit fleshing out in texture during aeration. Mineral tension, licorice, dried herb and mushroom on the resinous mid palate. Oak spice is a bit penetrating right now, give it another year or two for full expression.

Rather oak-forward, at this stage

Needed a little SO2 at first, showed ripe red berry fruit, then went quite oaky w bacon and fine ash. Still a baby but will bloom

I can't remember trying red Marsannay, but this will change that going forward. The nose had a dark, stemmy floral thing going. It floated across the palate with light edges and a wake of dark cherry and black tea. Everyone was like, "what is this? I love it!" Wine does that sometimes. Outstanding.

Toasty, cherry, bacon, crisp acid, sl. Astringent, opened up well.

Rhubarb & beet deliciousness!!! Burgundy + time= 😍! Thank you for opening the great bottle @Jim Westby, this was better than most wine.

In great form tonight; good structure and depth for an 07, well balanced, amazing for what it is.
