This is an elegant, medium-weight Chianti. Everything in very nice balance. Color is showing a bit of maturity. Nose has a lot of sandstoney gravel notes, lightly spiced ripe cherries. In the mouth, it’s got lots of gravelly minerality and savory cherry extract. Lots of very soft but tactile tannins. Medium body and soft acids. Restraint is the byword here.

Medium ruby. Plum, maple, hints of autumn leaves, orange peel, strawberry, cherry. Medium plus acidity, medium minus sugar, medium plus alcohol.

Not traditionally a Chianti fan but this was okay.

This is easy-drinking Chianti. Open nose of cigar box, smoky gravel, plums and ripe cherry. Broad and soft, it lacks the acid spine and freshness I look for. Maybe that's to be expected for the new category of Gran Selezione, which requires a higher alcohol content, which usually comes at the expense of acidity.

Better than the other two Chianti I had recently, I would buy another bottle if it was below $15, it has longer full body flavor than other Chiantis which tend to just depart so quickly.

Intense dark cherry with an edge of cigar box. Mostly single note but awesome with our bruschetta’s.

Interesting Chianti. Typical cherry notes but with some plum overtones. Not typical "Chianti acidity." Nice minerality and texture.

Typical cherry of chianti; but felt it didn't offer much more. Tasted "old" on the finish.
